Istanbul Modern, Istanbul

curated by Öykü Özsoy and Umit Mesci
This exhibition, as part of Istanbul Modern’s International Artist Residency Program, brings together ten artists from different regions of the world to collaborate with local craftspeople in Istanbul.

This group of sculptures incorporates paper sheets made through the artisanal process of marble paper in the workshop of Nesime Kantr in the neighborhood of Galata, employing for their fabrication natural pigments and organic elements found in the waters of the Bosporus.

The installation is inspired by stories related to the Golden Horn Chain, a long metal chain that was used to block enemy ships from entering Constantinople.
